trauma-informed Therapy & Expressive Arts therapy

Helping you find clarity, hope, and stability in the midst of change

in-person & online therapy in Southern Maine. Online therapy in Southern California.

I help women who feel overwhelmed and stuck,
re-gain or re-invent who they are.

You are tired of feeling tired, confused and lost.

You aren't sleeping well. You are craving cookies, wine and coffee. Your friends all seem to have it together—they post great photos on Instagram. Your thoughts run a continuous treadmill in your mind. You aren’t sure you like what you are doing anymore, but you don’t know what to do about that. It is hard just to decide what to wear in the morning. The energy and drive you have always had is M.I.A.

Things that used to make you happy don’t faze you. You question why you’re in the same house, the same job. Your partner is irritating. And you are gaining weight. You may feel out of control—things feel out of control. You aren’t sure where you belong anymore. And you don’t even know how this happened.

You are not alone. (And your friends don't have it together!)

My mission is to help you course-correct to a life you feel comfortable with. We are going to research what lights you up, what feels wrong or miserable, and why this is going on for you right now. Then we will create small steps you can take towards feeling better.

This hopelessness won’t last forever. And you will feel confident and competent again. You are in the middle, and the middle is always shitty and confusing, and disorienting.

Together we can find where you are getting stuck. We can work on ways to help you get grounded and remember who you are. I will help you stretch and strengthen your ability to feel and navigate the big emotions that arise while narrating your story of trauma.

Individual Therapy for Women

I specialize in helping women move through life transitions and the accompanying anxiety, depression, and insomnia that can go along with them, using traditional talk therapy, expressive arts therapy, grounding practices, and other whole-person approaches.

I bring curiosity, compassion, and confidence to each session. Together, we will sort out the places you feel stuck and find the tools and skills that will help you feel grounded again, find your purpose again, and regain your confidence.

Together we can find ways to integrate moments of peace in your day, ways to find permission for you to tend to yourself, and ways to take those old traumas out of storage and give them air, light and perspective.

Individual Therapy for Pre-Teens & Teens

Your 10-year-old daughter suddenly wants products for a skin care routine. Or your 14-year-old spends all of her unscheduled time scrolling TikTok, Instagram, or posting to keep up her SnapChat streak. She doesn’t go outside because she is in her room scrolling. All. The. Time.

Your daughter is not wrong or bad. You are not failing as a parent. Your daughter is part of a generation that is addicted to scrolling.

My mission is to create a weekly hour for your daughter to get reacquainted with the actual world, instead of the virtual world of scrolling. I work with girls 11 to 18 using simple art materials, taking short walks outside my office, finding leaves or rocks or lichen to reconnect your daughter to what is real and tangible.

Expressive Arts Groups

Expressive Arts Therapy gives you an invitation to be playful and curious; two qualities that get thwarted with trauma, and when you live your life in a state of constant stress.

I hold 4-week sessions of poetry therapy and journal therapy. These groups are organized around topics like managing your stress response, discovering your legacy, and for investigative reporting on your inner life. These groups bring a feeling of community to attendees.

Letting yourself get curious and playful with expressive arts materials returns a sense of safety and confidence as you lower your stress levels and lower your feelings of anxiety.

Expressive Arts Workshops for Therapists

Discover the power of expressive arts in therapy. We will paint, write in journals, glue stuff, breathe deeply, process and leave strong emotions on the art table.

We’ll do exercises in writing and creating and apply aspects of positive psychology to creating, while learning experiential methods to use with clients.

We’ll utilize mixed media collage, layering methods, zentangle© relaxation drawing exercises, and more.

You don’t have to do this alone. We can work together to find what makes you feel like yourself again.
